Rune Kyrkjebø has worked in the
fields of Old Norse textual criticism and palaeography. He
wrote his cand.philol-thesis in 1994 at the University of
Bergen on the manuscripts of the Bible translation
Stjórn, (Ei prøveboring i
Stjórn, unpublished). In June 2001, he defended
his doctoral thesis Heimskringla I etter Jofraskinna,
which comprises an edition and a study of one particular
manuscript of the Old Norse kings' sagas. Related to that
subject, and to sixteenth century Norwegian humanist
translations, is his article "Nokre tekstlege samanfall
mellom Jofraskinna og Norske Kongers
Chronica", published in Nordica Bergensia 14
(1997).
